Septic System InstallationSeptic System Installation

Fully licensed, bonded, and insured, Center Septic will handle all phases of the installation process including the required permits and health department inspections. Any new septic installation in the area first requires a site evaluation and permit from the local health district. The size of the system is based on the number of bedrooms in a home since that conveys how many people may be using the system. The permit from the health department will dictate the size requirements.

The main components are the tank itself and a leaching system. The tank has an inlet that is supplied from the house drain and an outlet that goes to the drain field. The area above the tank and drain field should be clear of trees to avoid complications from root intrusions and should not be in an area where there is any heavy equipment activity. Installations vary according to the soil composition, the amount of gravel, sand, rock, etc. There are many types of installations for home or commercial applications which vary according to each site requirement.

The Process

New Installations
When someone is building a new home or Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) in an area that requires septic, they are already working with an engineer for the property who will engineer their septic system. They submit an Onsite Wastewater System Layout Submittal Application to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. A field specialist visits the property during the application process and either approves or proposes changes. Once the application is approved, the homeowner comes to us with their plans and permit. We install the system and work with the health department on inspections and final approval.
Replacements
Septic systems have a lifespan of 15 to 40 years depending on the soil and groundwater conditions, other environmental factors, the materials used, and maintenance. When a septic system needs to be replaced we submit a replacement/repair application to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Once that is approved, we can install your system and then work with the health department on inspection and final approval.
